Whats Happening on the Preserved and Museum Front

Norwood

Norwood was the last steam locomotive to work for the NCB and is being restored by the Durham Locomotive Preservation Group. After many years of fundraising, there are now sufficient funds for the boiler to be restored. This is a major milestone towards returning this RSH locomotive to steam and will be undertaken by a specialist contractor over the next couple of years.

Stephenson Steam Railway

The Stephenson Steam Railway in North Sheilds will be holding a steam gala in July. More details when available.

Locomotion

The National Railway Museum at Shildon (Locomotion) is open 7 days a week. Admission is free, but the museum prefers visitors to book a time slot in advance. When making a booking, you will be asked if you would like to make a donation.

A new additional collections building, will be built on the site of the former Ashfield's premises.
